No real news...

They say no news is good news, but I'd rather hear rambling than nothing.
We had a very good Christmas, Santa was very good to us this year, I always wish we could spend more time getting down to the true meaning of Christmas, but that's no one's fault but my own.
We had a TON of snow on Christmas Day, but we were able to make it to see both Families, and to the movie theater. Then the day after we had MORE snow. I was beginning to wonder if it would ever stop snowing. It did, but I'm suspicious.... Saturday night we played Apples to Apples with all of the Family that was in town (on the Campbell side) we had so much fun and we pretty much decided mom cheats...that or is VERY good. She not only won the normal round, but also the extended round. A couple weeks ago I got to see the baby, the heart was split into two chambers but was beating steady (normally between now and 9 weeks the heart finishes splitting into 4 chambers ) . On the 13th of January we will have a second ultra sound at that point we'll be able to see for sure how well he or she is doing....no gender yet, that will come later. (I'm not a surprise kinda girl)

I am having a hard time with the knowledge that Luke will be 2 next week....He's just not a baby anymore, and that's hard.

For those of you who knew we even HAD a camping trailer...We've sold it. We only took it out 1 time, and we just couldn't justify the $40 a month it was costing to store. We will use the money to finally pay off our Harlie (the kid not the bike, the bike is a yamaha and paid for) as we only had insurance through half of her hospital stay when she was born and we have slowly (but surely) been paying it off. It will be nice to be out from under that debt.

I guess that's it for now...No pictures...bummer. Maybe I'll get around to uploading our Christmas pictures....To be continued...

Oh Harlie

Harlie: "Mom, why did dad take the keys out, now I can't listen to the radio"
Me: "Because honey, he can't have the keys in the ignition while he pumps gas"
Harlie: "But I really like the radio"
Me: "he can't have keys in the ignition while he gets gas"
Harlie:" Ignition?..........I don't understand I speak spanish" While crossing her arms
Me: "What Spanish can you speak? "
Harlie: " Audios....THAT MEANS BYE"
*singing go diago go*

Oh Christmas Tree,....

On Friday we went to get our Christmas Tree, at the tree lot they had a sleigh, and 2 reindeer, the kids got all geeked out about the reindeer...

Harlie loves all things living, she loved the tree lot, her favorite was the Pink Flocked tree...She asked I said no......
Lucas loved the trees too, he fell asleep before we got there so most of the time spent there
He was very groggy.

They found THE ONE, and we brought it home to decorate, the kids loved the whole tree picking experience, it was really fun. Harlie is starting to get old enough that she knows what happens at holidays and she gets very excited about them, she looks under the tree every morning waiting for the time Santa came and brought her presents. Luke gets excited about what Harlie gets excited about, he especially loves the ornaments, now only if he would leave them on the tree.

Twilight Opening Day

On Friday we went to see Twilight, Most of my family was there, we went to Red robin before the movie and then walked to the theater. Tyson hasn't read the books so at the beginning I'm not sure that he understood what was happening. But we both ended up really enjoying the movie. Most of my family that was there liked it. There were a few who I think got exactly what they expected out of it, all in all for a Based on the novel by....Movie it was good.
I know this is my inner 13 year old speaking but I can't WAIT to see the sequel and have started re reading the books, just because I miss the characters or maybe just one of them...I know I know geeky.

Never too early to Start

This is how we found her the other night when we sent her in to go potty before bed
When we asked her what she was doing she said "oh I'm just reading my scriptures while I pee"
of course I ran and got the camera...She loves my scriptures she sleeps with them sometimes, and often I'll find her staring at the pages "reading"

A day without Harlie would be boring, She says the funniest things.

On Sunday as Luke is coming out of Nursery at Church she says "Luke how was your Baby Class?"

Today when I picked her up from my mom's she said "You're Aunt Late, it's not time to go home" me: "No I'm Mommy" Harlie: "No you're Aunt Late, I'm playing"

Yesterday " We don't have any juice boxes, we ran out...Is it time to go shopping, I'm making the list this time I want lots of juice...and Pickles" me: "honey we have pickles" Harlie:"then we need sprinkles, and some kid makeup, I don't have any"

Grandpa Lowell's Graduation and Family

This weekend was bitter sweet. We had Grandpa Lowell's funeral which was hard, he just didn't look like grandpa. It was weird to see him and not hear a funny "Lowellism" as dad called them.
Not to have him ask to hug you from the left so you're hugging heart to heart, not to hear him talk about his angel....now he's her angel. It's just surreal.

It was really nice to have family down, Harlie had tons of fun with her cousins, and she will miss them very much. It was cute to see Summit and Luke getting in to Grandma Campbell's cupboards side by side both wearing Orange shirts , Summit only slightly taller. We made pizza, well mostly just Heather but we all helped a little. Heather is an amazing cook it is fun to watch her in action, like watching an episode of Take home Chef...she just does her thing and makes it look easy. It was nice to see Nathan...and hear a little about Dodi and the kids...We don't get to see near enough of them.
It was fun to see Jared and Carrie, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought none of us would get the chance to see Carrie while she was expecting. She has an amazing glow about her normally it was cute to see it magnified. The boys (meaning our husbands) went out and rode Tyson's moter cycle...possibly it's last outting before winter hits. And they had so much fun bonding. I didn't take pictures...I was too wrapped up in everything. I think some of the other family did though...Anyway I'm tired and should be done with this post. Hey everyone who wasn't named...it was good to see you too!!

Eeeeek postless ness

Sorry I haven't gotten to my blog lately. It's been a crazy week. This week was election time....and we had a surprising turn of events, I'm not a real political person, but I have to say that I'm proud of how far our country has come. And I was truly inspired by the speech that the President Elect gave on Tuesday night, and the speech McCain gave (even though it was a little long winded).

We also lost someone dear this week. And I don't feel adequate to post about him but what I want to say is that he was an amazing man, Father, Husband, Son, Grandpa, Friend and the relationship between he and Grandma is inspirational. And he will be missed.

October 32nd

Halloween this year was so much Fun. Early in the day we went to Aunt Rebecca's work for a trick or treat in her office, We score lots of candy and had fun seeing Zach, Abby, Jamie and Braydon all dressed up. We went trick or treating that night out in Grandma Rachel's neighborhood. Harlie was SO excited about knocking on doors...sometimes too excited we had to remind her to wait for her brother. After that we hung out at grandma's and played games and had fun.

We Carved pumpkins on Thursday night it was SO much fun, the kids were totally grossed out and haded the pumpkin guts.

Harlie was almost set she wasn't going to do it...but got talked into grabbing a handfull anyway

Tyson concentrated very hard on his pumpkin carving, his took the longest, but maybe that's because he was such a big help with Harlie's

Luke was absolutely grossed out, wouldn't touch it wanted nothing to do with the pumpkin guts. We had so much fun carving.

October 28, 2008

Funny things kids say

Harlie: "Mom we need to throw away our pumpkins"
me: "why we haven't even carved them yet?"
Harlie: "Because mom, they're decaying"
Me: "Decaying? Where did you learn that?" (scared I've been watching too much CSI)
Harlie: "Duh, Sid the science kid told me, garbage in the trash can is decaying too...we need to throw it away"
Me: "Ok honey, but our pumpkins won't get thrown away till after Halloween"
Harlie: " Mom, is my apple decayed?"

Luke's Big News

That's right Luke is officially diaper free!! We started potty training bootcamp a week ago Thursday, Yesterday Luke was down to one accident a day and saying potty MOST of the time, but we were relying on a timer to keep him dry. Today we haven't really used the time and he is actually saying "Potty". He is even using it for #2. And I am proud to say (as I am knocking on wood) that he is accident free today...Even during bedtime and naptime.
Go LUKE!

PS We are VERY well aware his undies drown him...We're working finding some for boys with little bums...Anyone know where these are?

New Puppy...not ours!

My little brother got a new puppy and the kids got to see her for the first time,
She's beyond sweet and I'm pretty sure that I'm in love with her, it's a good thing we live in an apartment or We could talk ourselves into getting one of her sisters. Her name is Senoma , She's a 10 week old German Shepherd /Chocolate lab mix, and she was up for euthinization at a rescue shelter in Tooele.

A four year old a pumpkin patch and a party

Harlie turned four yesterday, so I thought I should post some pictures of her day
We started the day off going out to breakfast Harlie had A smily face pancake and Hot Cocoa from Ihop , She wanted to open presents the second we got home, so that is what we did next.
Then we baked her cake

and after nap time it was off to the pumpkin patch!
After the pumpkin patch we went over to my parents house so that Papa Beagley could see Harlie on her birthday, And then we finished the day up with the rest of the Campbell/Beagley's that could come and cake and Ice Cream. Harlie had a good day and loved having everyone here...Not too mention all the new stuff.

We've been up to....

I haven't been a very good blogger...And now I have so many other blogs to keep up with.
Welcome Amy and Heather who have recently started blogging.

This month so far...

Tyson had a day off with the kids, so I suggested he do something fun with them while I was at work. He took them down to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country. They had so much fun, My kids LOVE animals and they got to ride a pony, When Tyson told me that they BOTH willingly got on their ponies I almost didn't believe it. But you can tell by the pictures that they were so excited.
They loved it and had a great day with their dad
.

We also had our Discount Tire dinner dance the other night and THANKS AMY for doing my hair for me. It looked great and stayed up all night. We had a great night and then we had a hotel room so Grandma Campbell (kept the kids for the night, and we got to sleep in Sunday for a change (thanks mom). It was a nice break from work and all of the monotony of every day life.

Real Moms

REAL MOTHERS

Real Mothers do not eat quiche;

they do not have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are

probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough does not come out of shag carpets.

Real Mothers do not want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?' and get their answer when a little voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade...

It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mom to Mother.

The Images of Mother:

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mama can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.

14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.

16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She has no clue!

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it.

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a mama is not in the clothes she wears, The figure that she carries,

Or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a mama must be seen from in her eyes,Because that is the doorway to her heart, The place where love resides.
The beauty of a mama is not in a facial mole, But true beauty is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, The passion that she shows,
And the beauty of a mama With passing years only grows!

Charlie the Bear, and first Primary program

Harlie's first primary program was today...Why is it that I couldn't stop getting emotional?
She did really well...Well sort of. We have sacrament last, and during her primary class she was given "charlie the bear & his journey log" Way cute idea, it's a tote bag, with a teddy bear who wears a tie, and then there is a little journal book, and inside on the next blank page you are supposed to write something about Harlie, and a good choice she made. You're also supposed to put a picture on the page of Harlie. So anyway, it's time to get up on the stand with her primary and she wants to take Charlie the bear with her, we probably would have just let her had it not been for her teacher instructing us to make sure Charlie stayed with us, and not Harlie during the program. So she melted down and wouldn't go with her class, Tyson went up with her and somehow managed to make her want to stay. After that it was smooth sailing. She had this little part about how the Gospel makes her happy, and it was an inspiring moment to hear her say it.
My little girl is getting so big....

Lucas the Bully

Lucas is turning into a bully! I don't know what to do. He is always hitting.
I've tried everything I can think of...even resorted to the *smack* we don't hit...LOL
Yeah not a ton of logic there. Yesterday he headbutted Harlie so hard I could have sworn that she would have a black eye, but luckily it faded. Some random person would say:"Harlie what happened to your eye?" Harlie:"My brother beat me up" NO Good!
HELP!?!

This week (being bloggier)

This week has been a bit busy. On the days I am not working I am tending a friends son who is the same age as Harlie which spells double trouble, throw Luke into the mix and it's a triple threat.
Work has been a bit hectic, The boss I've had for the past nine years was let go, and I have a new boss who is amazing, she's young and she has great new ideas for the store, so all in all it will be a good thing, as of right now we are in the getting everything changed to the way she wants it, so there is a lot of work to be done, and never a dull moment.

Tyson also has a new boss, and recently got promoted so he is basically one promotion away from having his own store. I am so proud of him and how devoted he is to providing for our little family.

This week we bought a 40" LCD TV so we are enjoying the update around here. Tyson is playing Xbox on it as I type this.

I missed the sign up date so Harlie won't be taking Ballet this fall, but I am looking in to some other things to keep her occupied. She's growing by leaps and bounds and really she loves to draw. Tonight she drew a flower and it looked like something Tyson or I would have drawn.
She says the funniest things and every other day she decides she's getting a cow or a horse or some other enormous animal that you could never have with an apartment (Or without at least 5 acres of property) She loves her little brother and it amazes me how protective of him she is.

Luke is gaining a vocabulary and is officially our repeat box. If there is anything you have said that you don't want repeated trust in Luke to say it. It is nice however that he has the words to convey what he needs a little better. And he has an amazing sense of humor already. He plays little jokes that he thinks are hilarious..And we can always count on him to stick a pair of pants on his head and walk around like a clown.

All in all our little family is good, and happy. And you can't complain much about that combination.

Labor Day Weekend

So we spent Labor day weekend with some friends in Saint George Utah, We had fun swimming and The went camping for the weekend.
It was very relaxing (well as relaxing as camping with a toddler and an almost 4 year old can be) We made s'mores, Harlie fell in love with Acorns , that she kept calling Apernuts (I think she was getting apricots and nuts mixed up) Luke just loved the dirt, and the rocks and throwing the dirt and the rocks. And even in the desert he found water to play in....Ben Brought his four wheelers, and we had alot of fun on them.

Tyson and Ben went on a long ride and even found an Arch.
We had so much fun and we were glad Ben and Elisha let us stay with them.

My Kids Could work for the D.E.A.

So today I tried to smuggle vegetables into Luke and Harlie's Mac N Cheese. Corn and Shredded up carrots to be exact, and to my dismay...They sniffed them out as soon as the bowl hit the table.
I spent the next five minutes trying to convince them to just eat it, and then 10 minutes after that sifting through the mac n cheese to get most of the veggies out.......If only kids could sniff drugs out the way they do vegetables....They could have a very promising career with the D.E.A.

For mom's who feel invisible

I found this while searching for lyrics to a song, it's pretty much amazing

***************I'm invisible.*********************8

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store.

Inside I'm thinking, "Can't you see I'm on the phone?"Obviously not. No one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all.

I'm invisible.

Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this? Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, "What time is it?" I'm a satellite guide to answer, "What number is the Disney Channel?" I'm a car to order, "Right around 5:30, please."

I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude -but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again.

She's going ... she's going ... she's gone!

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked down at my out-of-style dress; it was the only thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed hair was pulled up in a banana clip and I was afraid I could actually smell peanut butter in it.

I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, "I brought you this." It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe.I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it to me until I read her inscription:"To Charlotte, with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees."

In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work:
* No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no record of their names.
* These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished.
* They made great sacrifices and expected no credit.
* The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, "Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof? No one will ever see it."
And the workman replied, "Because God sees."

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, "I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will become."

At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride. I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on.

The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree. When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, "My mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table." That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want himto want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add,"You're gonna love it there."

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

Thats not a good idea

Yesterday during President Monson's talk before the 2 hour break, Harlie was setting up a balancing course. She took a box that is being unpacked and pushed it next to the coffee table. Then she took her child sized broom laid it between and attempted to walk across, Tyson said "that's not a good idea Harlie" Then she had one foot on it and one on the floor and continued across. She triumphantly said "See it WAS a good idea!" Then proceeded to attempt it again, only this time with both feet on the broom..Yes at this point I should have intervened, but I'm a supporter of the learning your lesson technique so I let her continue, hoping she would fall just hard enough to learn a lesson, well she fell alright, albeit a little harder than needed, and I'm pretty sure that she learned a lesson because she hit the coffee table HARD and her chin is bruised & Swollen pretty bad. We did however offer comfort and kisses before we launched the "see it wasn't a good idea" lecture.

Lucas the Fish

Lucas the fish's tank has been nasty for a couple of days, but we cleared out our storage unit so I have been dealing with my dirty fish tank for a few days...

So anyway I went to clean his tank today, and he's dead...I quickly scoop him out of the tank and flush him down the toilet, without Harlie seeing because she'd never use the toilet again if she saw me. I then run in and start cleaning his tank I'm dumping his water down the kitchen sink and Harlie goes "MOMMY don't dump him down sink!!" and I said "I didn't honey he's in the cup" (because I normally put him in a plastic cup while I clean the tank) and she looks around for cups "I don't see him, you dump him down sink?" with sad big brown eyes that are tearing up ..uh.....uh....quick mom think!

Harlie "did Becca take him?" "No honey, Becca only took your Gack nothing else" slight tears form at this point "he's down sink?" crap crap crap, I think , If I tell her he's dead she's going to think I dumped him down the drain, no matter what I tell her so I say "no honey, he went to work with Daddy" great now I'm a big fat liar..but it's okay this time because she walks away smiling and laughing "that silly fish, we don't work with daddy at count tires" (because she can't say discount tire she calls his work 'count tires')

So I then take the phone in the bedroom and call Tyson and let him know that the fish has taken the porcelain expressway to a better place and tell him that I told Harlie he went to work with daddy , so he says "and so I need to stop on my way home and get a new one?" and I said "if you wouldn't mind, sorry I panicked she almost cried hon"

Since daddy is as big of a softy for those big sad brown eyes, he stopped on his way home for lunch and bought a Lucas the fish II , and Harlie giggled and smiled when he carried that fish in the door, and kept telling the fish "you don't work at count tires with daddy, you stay in your bowl", apparently we've been WAY over feeding the fish. I swear the bowl said 2 times a day, and apparently you are only supposed to feed him 2-3 times A WEEK!

So RIP Lucas the fish SR. You were a good beta, but, your BMI was much too high...typical american....LOL
